<h3 class="theme-panel-header text-2xl pb-6 theme-vacancy-section-title">About the role</h3><p>We are looking for a Product Purchaser to join us here at Matalan within our clothing department to purchase products that meet our omni-channel requirements. Working in collaboration with the Product Development team to source and procure items that deliver the Matalan product strategy, whilst optimizing the best costs and maintaining quality standards. Working directly with suppliers that also meet the company’s brand and budget requirements</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Product Sourcing and Supplier Management</strong></p><p>• Identify and source potential suppliers, both domestically and internationally, through market research, trade shows, and networking</p><p>• Formulate an overarching sourcing supply base strategy aligned with the company’s goals and objectives</p><p>• Evaluate supplier capabilities, including quality, pricing, reliability and delivery terms</p><p>• Negotiate contractual agreements and pricing with suppliers to secure the most favorable terms for Matalan</p><p>• Build and maintain strong and trusting relationships with suppliers, addressing any issues and collaborating to manage any exposure to risk accordingly.</p><p><strong>Purchase Planning</strong></p><p>• Collaborate with Merch Planning to formulate effective capacity planning to maximise manufacturing efficiencies</p><p><strong>Supplier Performance Management</strong></p><p>• Conduct supplier performance reviews - Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers regarding quality, delivery, or other aspects of the purchasing process</p><p>• Collaborate with suppliers to improve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness</p><p>• Make sure suppliers meet the requirements of the product specification packs , working closely with Product development to translate detailed product specifications into commercially winning products</p><p><strong>Cost Analysis and Negotiation</strong></p><p>• Analyse market trends, pricing data, and economic factors to determine the best purchasing strategies</p><p>• Utilise in depth costing knowledge to negotiate costs with suppliers, to achieve savings and maximise profitability</p><p>• Drive consolidation opportunities to improve efficiency both internally and externally with the supply base</p><p>• Take accountability for the tender process on key volume lines, supporting the team to deliver the best result</p><p><strong>Production Management</strong></p><p>• Responsible for the approval process within the critical path, ensuring all trigger dates are met - escalating accordingly where necessary to ensure the timely delivery of finished products</p><p>• Support the merchandise team in major intake management and trading actions, within the supply base</p><p>&nbsp;</p><div class="absolute bottom-2 right-2"><button onclick="scrollToTop()" class="theme-primary p-2 rounded-lg flex"> <i translate="no" class="material-symbols-outlined"> arrow_upward </i> </button></div>
