<dt class="rm-fieldTitle">Description</dt><dd class="rm-fieldData"><p>Senior Buyer - Raw Materials and Packaging<br>Location: Lancashire (Hybrid)</p><p>About the Role:</p><p>On behalf of our client, a leading UK food manufacturer, we are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer with expertise in raw materials procurement and ideally packaging. </p><p>This pivotal role offers the chance to join a dynamic procurement team, reporting directly to the Head of Procurement &amp; Supply Chain. You will lead a team, driving procurement strategies and supplier relationships to support the company's ambitious growth objectives.</p><p><strong>The Business:</strong><br>Our client has over 100 years of industry expertise and operates a diverse portfolio of trusted food brands. They are a key supplier to UK grocery, independent, and specialty sectors, offering private label goods and additional services such as packaging design, fulfillment, and logistics. With extensive distribution channels and a commitment to innovation and sustainability, they are a leader in their industry.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Lead, mentor, and develop a team focused on raw materials and packaging procurement.</li><li>Create and implement procurement strategies to ensure continuity of supply and cost efficiency.</li><li>Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to guarantee timely delivery, quality, and value.</li><li>Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential new suppliers.</li><li>Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements, achieving favorable terms for cost and quality.</li><li>Collaborate with production, planning, and logistics teams to align material availability with production schedules.</li><li>Monitor supplier performance, risk management, and compliance with environmental standards and regulations.</li><li>Drive cost-saving initiatives and process improvements without compromising quality or delivery.</li><li>Oversee procurement budgets and present regular reports with actionable insights.</li><li>Ensure raw materials and packaging meet all quality and regulatory standards.</li></ul><p><strong>About You:</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Essential:</strong></p><ul><li>Minimum of 3 years' experience in procurement, with a strong focus on raw materials and packaging, ideally within FMCG.</li><li>Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills.</li><li>Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on cost optimization and process improvements.</li><li>Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).</li></ul></li><li><p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p><ul><li>Proven leadership skills.</li><li>CIPS qualification or relevant degree.</li></ul></li></ul><p><strong>What's on Offer:</strong><br>This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in a growing, innovative business.
