<h2>About the role</h2><p>We are looking for a Canteen Team Manager for our Distribution Centre in Hatfield to manage a small team of nine in ensuring our kitchen and service counters run smoothly and deliver fresh high quality home cooked food on a daily basis to our onsite colleagues. </p><p>In return, you'll have the opportunity to progress your catering career with a company that invests in its people, celebrates individuality, and rewards and recognises colleagues who go beyond the plate.</p><p>The role is full time, contracted to 38 hours per week, predominately Monday to Friday, but weekends may be required occasionally as the business needs. You will ideally have a background working within a large kitchen with an ability to cater for up to 500 people over a 24-hour period. The successful candidate will report directly to an operational manager.</p><h2>Main Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen and canteen areas</li><li>The preparation & cooking of fresh wholesome food to the highest standards</li><li>Supervising our canteen team to ensure we continue to deliver impeccable food and customer service</li><li>Implementing and reviewing Health & Safety standards to ensure compliance in the workplace and the team.</li><li>Overseeing the efficiency of canteen workplace, including ordering of stock, monitoring budgets, and implementing action plans</li><li>Communicating regularly with your line manager to monitor KPIs and targets</li><li>Creating a range of daily and weekly specials and implementing new ideas based on customer preferences, catering for occasional themed events whilst ensuring dietary requirements are catered for at all times.</li><li>Supporting and training the team, leading from the front to make sure everyone can excel in their role</li><li>Maintaining a welcoming environment for a multi - cultural workforce and to embrace diversity.</li><li>Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships within the team and DC departments </li></ul><h2>You will need</h2><ul><li>Hold a recognised cooking qualification and/or relevant experience</li><li>To have a minimum of two years of catering experience</li><li>To have experience managing teams in a similar role</li><li>Ability to apply soft skills as necessary to develop and motivate the team</li><li>Minimum Level 2 Food Safety Qualification</li><li>Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment</li><li>Demonstrate good financial acumen</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills</li><li>Be an ambitious and motivated individual who is always looking to upskill</li><li>Good knowledge and experience of catering including; food hygiene and food safety</li></ul><h2>What's in it for you</h2><p>At Booker, along with being a great place to work and giving you an opportunity to get on in your career, we also offer the following fantastic package of benefits:</p><ul><li>A Booker colleague card with 10% off purchases at Booker and double discount events up to three times a year.</li><li>After 3 months service, a Tesco colleague discount card with 10% increasing to 15% off most purchases at Tesco for a 4 day period after every four-weekly pay day, ie. thirteen times a year.
